Whoever the winner is, Jin decides he could use Kiryu's help in rescuing Xiaoyu and stopping his father Kazuya. That might not be something Jin would ever do, but say one thing leads to another and they end up fighting. The kind of work he does might be undercover but say in some way shape or form, he comes into contact with Jin who asks for his help. If I interpret the Tekken 7 ending correctly a) Heihachi is dead for good and Kazuya is free to attempt taking over the world again b) Jin is planning to stop Kazuya and c) Claudio wants Jin for something and plans to take Xiaoyu hostage to threaten him.Īnd in Kiryu's side of things, disclaimer first I haven't played Like a Dragon yet so correct me if I'm wrong, but by the end of Yakuza 6 it looks like he's either in hiding only to come out when he needs to or he's part of some witness protection program. I would love to see his story expand and I would be totally cool with that meaning in a different franchise, that franchise being Tekken. I love Kiryu and I hate that his story in the Yakuza games is over.

To make it come full circle, Bandai Namco and Sega can go all out and make Kiryu a vital part of the story in Tekken 8 much like Akuma, and not just a guest character. Again, the demand for Kiryu is there, and as long as people keep playing these games, that demand might always be there. Also touched upon in the OP, but I can expand upon it here. Who wouldn't wanna see Haruka kick some ass? But making a non-canon version of Haruka just as a palette swap in my opinion is an easy way to circumvent this issue.

Now canon wise, obviously, Kiryu never taught Haruka how to fight. If a female character is chosen by a player before the other player chooses Kiryu and ends up doing so, either make the first player's female character become deselected, forcing them to pick again, or, just gray Kiryu out whenever a woman is first picked. Make it a game mechanic in the Character Select screen where Kiryu can only be selected by a player if the opponent is NOT a female character. I've seen others say this and I mentioned it in the OP. I for one can at least think of some ways around this. Of course I know Sega's stance on this, but are we all just willing to accept that and not find this topic even worth discussing? It is one thing to skip over a huge OP, but it's another to also just assume that it doesn't cover the most essential things about the topic, which is what Nagoishi said.

Ah, finally some positivity in this thread.
